Anyhoe, if it weren't for my sister's dire need of a silky blouse which costs dollars in the mall, then what's the cheapest way to find unique garment you're looking for?

yes, only in UK. And lots of cheap and amazing clothes if your budget only restricts to a hanky. And I wouldn't know how much strain it is just by passing all those long and congested stores and keep looking upwards the whole time. (good stuff are hung an inch below the ceiling and i seriously don't know why) lol.





Guide to Ukay-Ukay Galore ( narrated and modeled by sistah):




First (always asked by deym what it is in nihongo, its Hitotsu), always ride in jeepneys and never in taxi because taxi fare are far more than what you expect them to be. Taxi meters are the ultimate phantom dripler.


Second, because of the immense traffic always bring something or someone to make fun with, in this instance my sister. And WHOEVER said that Davao has no traffic is absolutely daft and will get killed by traffic jam thank you. See picture below.








































it's so congested you will be happy the jeep moves an inch in 5 min. Matina to Uyanguren = 30 minutes + another 45 minutes of traffic before arriving in Agdao Public Market you will thank every God created if the weather's not humid.




Third, blame all the establishment you think that caused the traffic and take a picture before swearing loud enough for others to hear I'll bet my sister, they will automatically do the same. he-he!



















i really abhor passing this route. it sucks even more if the driver you've ridden were extremely enraged of brakes he'd been stepping on it every minute.




Fourth, just show your enthusiasm by taking pictures and do a lot of internal chirping, it will do you good. just don't take any picture of the whole market it's startling to discern our version of public market.



















Fourth.one, remember that all good stuff are hung above and out of your reach. go through them.

And what exactly is this Melanine thingy that commonly found in white crystals rich in nitrogen which is used mainly in manufacturing of plastics, dishware, whiteboards, fertilizers and many more? *bwahaha* Anyway, this abomination predominantly found in Milk powder and is NO way in regard with Chinese noodles or even LUCKY ME for christ sake! lol.

I've been living here in Davao for almost 5 years now - erhm exactly today. wow!
I've been so long here yet until now, I've only been in the southern side of Davao. Never had the chance to venture around.

Davao city is a huge place. It's really big, no shit. Its one of the longest cities in the world right?
In my 5 years here, I haven't even been outside the city proper. oh well, we did our NSTP on Samal Island but of course - that's another blog! lol. I've been in the southern part because that is my only route going home to my province but that aside I never had the chance to venture north, west and upper-east side of Davao.

I wouldn't have this opportunity if not for Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku, they wanted my awesome-ness in Nihongo. And I wouldn't know that it takes almost an hour straight from Matina to Damosa I almost fell asleep. Never been in Lanang area because it is very far from city proper and it takes you 2 jeep rides if not. Lucky for me there is Matina to Damosa route but Manong driver killed me with those hundred stops in exchange! Only now I realized what my cousin implied that we're lucky here roads are not congested considering places here are very VERY far from each other (landmarks, schools, hospitals you name it).

Fortunately, with the amount of time I stretched in fear of being late (the longest time allowance I had since HS's first field trip), I arrived 30 minutes early I have the time to roam around Damosa Gateway. It is big compared to Matina Town Square but emptier.

Most of the vehicles here are private. Not a lot of Jeepneys. Taxis are out of the question.

Recently I have been digging through my old stacks of photocopied notes *i'm only interested in someone else's notes* -which i forgot to send home, i found the original photocopied piece of the article Jessica Zafra wrote. It's a personal favorite.

I have this article way back my freshmen year and was given by my Literature prof I shun to remember much to my chagrin. ho-ho! Anyway, i failed to probe where it is published, sorry.











Are people getting stupider? There are several ways of addressing this question.

On the other hand, test scores are dropping across the country, a lower percentage of examinees get passing marks on professional board exams, and total of cretins are achieving position of power, which would suggest that their competitors (or the electorate) are even stupider than they are.

On the other hand, there are more people on the planet today, and even if the ratio of smart people to dumb people hasn’t changed, there would still be more stupid people walking the earth. Also, conditions on the planet are far more hospitable then they were in, say, Sumeria 787 B.C., and fewer stupid people are getting themselves killed by sticking their noses up a Hippopotamus’ arse.

On yet another hand (which makes three hands, therefore you are a mutant), it might be argued that the answer to the question would depend on our definition of “stupid”. If by “stupid” we mean “the opposite of intelligent”, we would have to define “intelligent”. This is a tough call. Now that the usefulness of IQ tests is being disputed – partly because the people who flunk them feel bad and we don’t want these idiots to be discouraged for life – we can’t just call someone who scores 200 a genius and someone who scores 20 a moron.

The task of defining intelligence is further muddles by recent, fashionable classifications. Last year there was “emotional intelligence”, and now there’s “moral intelligence”. Several books have been written on these other types of intelligence, and their authors are racking in big bucks so they can’t be totally stupid.

On yet another freaky hand, don’t you sometimes have this creeping suspicion that you are surrounded by morons? Maybe you are a nice person so you don’t say it out loud, ( And I just want to tell you that I’m here for you, I’ll say it out loud, We’re surrounded by morons!) but you know what I’m saying don’t you. This suspicion may not be supported by cold, hard data, but it’s certainly backed up by observation.

It would be easier if stupid people looked like stupid people – for instance they drooled all the time. Think of how convenient it would be if everyone who wore their underwear on the outside could be called stupid, and we didn’t have to stop and wonder whether he or she was just being trendy. Unfortunately, the stupid tend to look like everybody else, not to mention that many smart people dress stupidly.

There is also the fact that many stupid people harbor the delusions of intelligence. They truly believe that they are intelligent creatures, and their self-confidence hypnotizes other people into believing the same. Corollary to this, many smart people hid heir intelligence, knowing that intelligence can be a liability on a planet that is predominantly stupid.

An interesting side to our discussion is the debate o whether there is intelligent life on other planets. Those who do not think so reason that if there are extraterrestrial beings, why have these beings contacted us? They do not consider us “intelligent life”. We do not meet their criteria for intelligence, and are therefore not worthy of their formal attention. This could be why our contact with aliens has been limited to abductions and castle mutilations, neither of which can definitely be connected to extraterrestrial activities.

Now some readers may have refuse to read past the first sentence of this column on the ground that “stupider” is an improper usage. Are they intelligent, or stupid? First, I would like to commend them for hoisting the flag of good grammar; second, I recommend that they do other readers a favor and hoist themselves on the flagpole!

And who am I to ARGUE?
